Happy New Year all! Another excellent pod. The Fabled Lands books were amazing feats, the fact you could walk out of one book and into one of the other six and then to another was ground breaking. Truely a sandbox video game in book form.
Jamie had a BBC Radio series too back in the 90s, The Heart of Harkun, which i missed at the time but listened to on Radio Seven or whatever it was about 10 years ago, it was good, and i think set in the Fabled Lands world. I wonder how that came about?
Was far too busy with the Christmas / New year build up and celebrations so only go the chance to listen to this episode today. Really enjoyed it – fave part was just the look back on the year. Conversational in tone, but just enough structure and focus there from those great wee questions to stop it from being too meandering.
If I ever make it back to a Grogmeet I’m going to suggest that ‘Roleplaying Rambling’ should be a formal part of the schedule. In a pub, of course, with just enough libation for everyone to get the banter going (but not too much perhaps !).
Enjoyed listening to you two a lot, even when I’m not sure what game you’re talking about. I think Blithy would have liked the way my Dad played D&D back in the days before AD&D came out. Those were the Wild West of House Rules. Dirk, if you ever want to chat about “Holmes Basic” or the Blue Box say the word. I was delighted to find someone more obsessed with Caroline Munroe than myself.
