  2. It was interesting when you touched on D&D players being power gamers as my experience was completely the opposite. I was never a fan of Runequest back in the day, mainly because the people who played it at my games club were power gamers. In my one and only game of RQ one player had a character with 100%+ attacks which he claimed he’d built up over years of gaming (which I didn’t believe as the game seemed so lethal), while my character could barely hit a barn door – I just didn’t make sense to me.

    To me the D&D players were the role players, they were not obsessed with levelling (although I imagine many D&D players were), they just wanted to enjoy a great adventure.

    Great episode by the way. The interview with Rick Meints was a real pleasure to listen to (before this I don’t know that I’d ever heard of him before!)
